Ekiti APC Rallies for Tinubu: Leaders Reaffirm Unwavering Support for Reelection

Leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State have unequivocally reaffirmed their endorsement for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Biodun Oyebanji, emphasizing the critical need for continued good governance at both national and state levels. This significant gathering took place on Friday at the country home of the late General Adeyinka Adebayo in Iyin-Ekiti, underscoring a united front for the party's future.

The high-profile meeting was graced by a host of prominent party figures, including two former governors of Ekiti State, Chief Niyi Adebayo and Dr. Kayode Fayemi, Governor Biodun Oyebanji himself, his deputy Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye, the Senate leader Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, and the Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye. Additionally, members of the National Assembly, State House of Assembly, local government chairmen, and various other party stakeholders were present, showcasing a broad representation of APC's leadership in the state.

The formal reaffirmation of President Tinubu’s candidacy was set in motion by Senate leader Opeyemi Bamidele, with Hon. Olusola Fatoba, representing Ekiti Central Federal Constituency 1, seconding the motion. Similarly, the endorsement of Governor Oyebanji was formally proposed by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, and seconded by the chief whip, Hon. Bose Olowookere, representing the Efon constituency. Both motions received overwhelming ratification through a resounding voice vote, signifying collective approval.

In their separate remarks, former Governors Niyi Adebayo and Kayode Fayemi urged party members to avoid complacency in anticipation of next year’s governorship election. They stressed the paramount importance of inclusivity, calling for all members to be carried along to ensure decisive success in all upcoming elections across the state. This collective commitment and solidarity were highlighted as crucial for fortifying the APC's strength within Ekiti State.

Dr. Fayemi specifically commended APC members for their extensive support for Governor Oyebanji, exhorting them to ensure his victory both in the party primary and the subsequent main election. Reaffirming his unwavering commitment to the APC's progress, Dr. Fayemi assured the assembled leaders that he remains a loyal member and would dedicate his efforts to the success of the party and Governor Oyebanji in the state. He lauded Governor Oyebanji's performance, noting that the party anticipates no difficulties during the primary election but emphasized the need for all stakeholders to mobilize grassroots support for the general election. Dr. Fayemi expressed optimism that Governor Oyebanji would break the longstanding jinx of one-term governors in the state, establishing his administration as the first to achieve party-line continuity.

Speaking on behalf of the National Assembly members, Senate leader Senator Opeyemi Bamidele pledged their full support for Governor Oyebanji, promising effective mobilization efforts to secure his re-election for a second term.

Governor Oyebanji, in his expression of gratitude, reiterated his dedication to fostering cohesion among all stakeholders. He vowed to strengthen relationships, thereby ensuring the APC remains an appealing party through inclusivity and aggressive developmental initiatives. The Governor highlighted the upcoming October 17 primary election as a foundational step for both the 2026 governorship and 2027 presidential elections, expressing confidence in shattering the state's prevalent single-term tenure jinx to usher in more decisive development.

Furthermore, Governor Oyebanji appealed to all party members to embrace a sense of unity, viewing themselves as one large family. He urged that no member should face castigation or bullying based on their preferred aspirants. "We are one big family and we should see ourselves as one. Let everyone pursue his or her aspirations without any form of molestations. We will all work together for victory in the general election," the governor stated, promoting internal harmony.

Assuring continued alignment with President Tinubu's "Renewed Hope Agenda," Governor Oyebanji affirmed that the President's economic policies have significantly aided his administration in addressing the people's needs through tangible development. He proudly stated that his government has not incurred any loans for capital projects and guaranteed that this prudent financial approach would persist during his prospective second term.

Barr. Olusola Elesin, the APC State Chairman, concluded the meeting by stating its primary objectives: to review party activities, fortify unity in preparation for upcoming primary elections, and strengthen the party for future electoral contests. He underscored that this forum serves as a vital organ for making crucial party decisions. Barr. Elesin commended Governor Oyebanji and other caucus leaders for their support of the party’s secretariat project, asserting that the governor's notable achievements are sufficient to boost the party's performance in the governorship election.
