New Era for Good Hope Centre: Nigerian Pastor's Church Acquires Iconic Venue
Spirit Revelation Ecclesia, also known as New World Faith Ministries, has successfully acquired Cape Town's Good Hope Centre for R135 million. Celebrated as a major milestone by Pastor John Anosike, the church plans to use the venue for worship and large gatherings, despite prior objections regarding the city's housing shortage.
Cape Town's Spirit Revelation Ecclesia, also known as New World Faith Ministries, has officially confirmed the successful acquisition of the city's prominent Good Hope Centre.
The church purchased the venue for R135 million, marking a significant milestone that has been widely celebrated by its leadership and congregants.
Pastor John Anosike, who leads Spirit Revelation Ecclesia alongside his wife Pastor Ola Anosike, expressed profound joy and described the acquisition as the biggest 'leap of faith' in his ministry career during a recent Sunday sermon, which was met with enthusiastic applause.
Pastor Thelma Lewis, a leader within the ministry, further shared the celebratory news in a social media post, declaring February a 'month of victory' for the church.
Lewis emphasized the strategic importance of the Good Hope Centre, stating, 'The Good Hope Centre is a gate in Cape Town, and the church has taken their position at the gate of the city.'
The Nigerian-born Pastor Anosike and the church intend to utilize the newly acquired Good Hope Centre for various functions, including worship services, conferences, and large community gatherings.
This move signifies a new chapter in the ministry's growth and outreach efforts within the Cape Town area.
However, the sale of the Good Hope Centre was not without controversy.
It was sold through a municipal land disposal auction despite notable objections from several political parties and civil society groups.
These groups had argued that the site held potential to assist in alleviating the city's ongoing housing shortage, raising concerns about the city's land management priorities.
