Based on the beloved video game franchise of the same name from and PlayStation, The Last of Us follows survivor Joel () and the young Ellie () as they make their way across a post-apocalyptic Earth ravaged by spore-infested creatures resembling zombies. The second season will adapt the topical second game in the series, , introducing the controversial character of Abby () into the fray. How audiences will react to Abby in the HBO adaptation remains to be seen.
