Sarah McLachlan and Allison Russell to Pay Tribute to Joni Mitchell at Juno Awards

The 2026 Juno Awards will celebrate legendary musician Joni Mitchell with a lifetime achievement award, presented by the National Arts Centre.
The ceremony airs live on Sunday, March 29, at 8 p.m. ET on CBC TV and CBC Gem, with global streaming on CBC Music’s YouTube channel.
The event will feature a tribute to Mitchell by Acclaimed Artists Sarah McLachlan and Allison Russell, both multi-Juno winners.
Mitchell, 82, recently won her 11th Grammy Award for Best Historical Album with Patrick Milligan for Joni Mitchell Archives – Vol. 4: The Asylum Years (1976-1980).
Her career includes five Juno Awards, induction into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 1981, the Kennedy Center Honors in 2021, the Gershwin Prize in 2023, induction into the SongwritersHall of Fame in 1997, and a 2002 Recording Academy lifetimeachievement award.
Sarah McLachlan, 58, a 12-time Juno Award winner, is nominated this year for Adult Contemporary Album of the Year for Better Broken.
Allison Russell, 44, has previously won two Junos, including Contemporary Roots Album of the Year for Outside Child in 2022.
Their performances promise a powerful celebration of Mitchell’s legacy.
The 2026 broadcast will also feature performances from Cameron Whitcomb, Arkells, The Beaches, and William Prince.
Comedian Mae Martin will host, becoming the first non-binary host and the first comedian to lead the show since Russell Peters.
Additional honorsinclude Nelly Furtado’s induction into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, Daniel Caesar receiving the Juno International Achievement Award, and the Walt Grealis Special Achievement Award going to Sandy Pandya, Vinny Cinquemani, and Alexander Mair. Rock band Billy Talent will receive the Juno Humanitarian Award for their contributions beyond music.
