Ministerial vetting chaos: It appears to me I was the target - Ablakwa

Published 1 month ago1 minute read

Appearing before the special committee investigating the chaos on Friday, February 7 2025, Ablakwa insisted that the chaos that erupted was a calculated effort to derail his vetting.

“It Appears to me that I was the target. The sequence of events was not random; it was a deliberate scheme to obstruct my vetting,…becuase they were happy to vet others, ” he told the committee.

“What I saw was an attempt to disrupt the proceedings and they proceeded to disrupt it, ” he added.

The disorder, which escalated into heated confrontations among MPs, prompted Speaker Alban Bagbin to suspend four lawmakers and initiate a formal inquiry.

The MPs suspended were; Rockson Dafeamekpor, Hassan Tampuli, Jerry Ahmed Shaib, and Frank Annor Dompreh. Their suspension has since been rescinded by the Speaker.

The investigative committee, chaired by Ho West MP Emmanuel Bedzrah, has been mandated to identify those responsible and propose appropriate sanctions.

Ablakwa’s testimony introduces a new dimension to the inquiry, suggesting underlying political motivations behind the disruptions.
