Miley Cyrus Reveals Health Update on Iconic Godmother Dolly Parton: The Show Goes On!

During her appearance at the "Avatar: Fire and Ash" premiere in Los Angeles on Monday, December 1st, pop sensation Miley Cyrus provided an encouraging update regarding the health of her godmother, country music icon Dolly Parton. The 33-year-old artist conveyed Parton's resilient spirit, telling Entertainment Tonight, "She’s always gonna keep the show going. The show must go on. She’s just excited to get back to work."
Dolly Parton, 79, had previously announced in late September her decision to postpone her highly anticipated Las Vegas concert residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace. The residency, which was initially slated to commence in December, has been rescheduled to begin in 2026, due to undisclosed medical procedures. Following this announcement, and amidst circulating rumors about her condition, Parton herself addressed her health publicly in a video on October 8th. "I don’t think God is through with me and I ain’t done workin’," the Country Music Hall of Famer affirmed, adding, "I wanted you to know that I’m not dying. There’s just a lot of rumors flyin’ around and I figured if you heard it from me, you’d know that I was OK."
The bond between Miley Cyrus and Dolly Parton extends beyond their godmother-godchild relationship, encompassing a rich history of friendship and professional collaboration. In 2024, the genealogy-tracking website Ancestry.com revealed a distant familial connection between the two stars. Parton famously played "Aunt Dolly" on the popular Disney Channel series "Hannah Montana," starring Cyrus. Their musical partnership includes a reimagined duet of Cyrus’ chart-topping hit "Wrecking Ball," featured on Parton’s 2023 album, "Rockstar."
Coincidentally, the "Avatar" premiere also served as an occasion for Miley Cyrus to share personal news. She confirmed her engagement to musician Maxx Morando, with whom she began dating in 2021. Cyrus attended the event with her fiancé, visibly sporting a sparkling gold band on her left ring finger, marking their engagement four years after their relationship started. Cyrus was previously married to Liam Hemsworth. Furthermore, Cyrus contributed her song "Dream as One" to the soundtrack of the "Avatar" sequel, highlighting her ongoing musical endeavors.
