Massive Attack Ends 16-Year Wait with Australian Tour Announcement

Legendary Bristol collective Massive Attack, led by Robert “3D” Del Naja and Grant “Daddy G” Marshall, is set to return to Australia for their first headline shows in 16 years. Frontier Touring will present three arena dates in August 2026, with performances at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on August 6, Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney on August 9, and Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne on August 11. Frontier Members presale begins on Thursday, June 4 at 2 p.m. local time, followed by general on-sale tickets available from Friday, June 5 at 3 p.m. local time via frontiertouring.com/massiveattack.
This highly anticipated tour announcement coincides with the release of new Massive Attack material: a collaboration with Tom Waits titled “Boots on the Ground.” This new track signals that the group remains artistically active more than three decades after its formation as part of Bristol’s seminal Wild Bunch sound system collective.
Massive Attack's immense influence on music is undeniable. Their 1991 debut album, Blue Lines, is frequently credited with inventing the trip-hop genre, peaking at No. 13 on the UK Albums Chart and earning a spot on Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. Their third album, Mezzanine (1998), topped the UK Albums Chart and spawned iconic tracks such as “Teardrop,” which became widely recognized as the theme for the American television drama House, and “Angel.” Mezzanine also achieved their strongest U.S. chart showing, reaching No. 60 on the Billboard 200, and has sold over 3.5 million copies globally.
The band continued its chart success with their fourth album, 100th Window (2003), which also reached No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart. Their most recent studio album, Heligoland, released in 2010—the same year as their last Australian visit—debuted at No. 2 on the U.K. Albums Chart.
Massive Attack's live performances are renowned for being among the most visually and sonically immersive experiences in music. These shows integrate large-scale political messaging, bespoke audio-visual systems, and collaborations with esteemed artists including Adam Curtis, United Visual Artists, and Robert Del Naja's own visual art practice, offering audiences a truly unique and impactful event.
