London Erupts: Pro-Palestinian Protests Target Ministry of Defence, Lead to Celebrity Arrests

Recent pro-Palestinian demonstrations across central London have brought heightened scrutiny on protest rights and public order, leading to arrests and strong condemnations from political figures. Among the notable incidents, musician Robert Del Naja, widely known as 3D and frontman for the band Massive Attack, was arrested on suspicion of showing support for a proscribed organisation.
Del Naja's arrest occurred in Trafalgar Square during a mass protest against the ban on Palestine Action. He sat among hundreds of demonstrators on Saturday afternoon, holding a sign that boldly declared 'I Oppose Genocide, I Support Palestine Action'. Police officers subsequently approached him, informed him of his arrest, and carried him away from the demonstration amidst cheers and applause from fellow protesters. Footage from the scene captured supporters expressing admiration for Del Naja as he was taken into custody, with one individual heard asking him why he was being arrested, to which he reportedly replied, “I’m being unlawfully arrested.”
