Mabifhi Ignites Dance Fever in Botswana Competition
Malebogo 'Lebo M' Mabifhi, a talented dancer from Botswana, has made her way to Los Angeles, United States of America, to represent her nation at the prestigious Redbull Dance Your Style World Final. Her participation comes after an impressive victory in the Botswana qualifiers held in August. The 28-year-old artist has joined an elite group of dancers, with representatives from over 50 countries globally converging in L.A. in anticipation of the highly awaited finals scheduled to take place the following day.
The week leading up to the main event has been filled with various engaging activities for the dancers, including intensive workshops and vibrant open jam sessions, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and cultural exchange among the international participants. The pinnacle of the event, the final competition, promises to be a thrilling spectacle, bringing together 16 of the world's finest street dancers. These artists will engage in an all-styles battle, with a unique twist: the ultimate winner will be decided by the audience, adding an element of direct engagement and popular vote to the competition.
Speaking about her experience in an interview, Mabifhi shared her profound feelings, stating, "It is a great experience for me, having interacted with amazing and talented dancers from around the world. I am nervous, anxious and excited at the same time." Despite the array of emotions, she articulated a clear focus on her personal journey and capabilities. "But I do not want to overwhelm myself with other people's abilities and capabilities, I just want to be myself and with God by my side I truly believe I am capable of doing anything," Mabifhi added, highlighting her self-belief and reliance on faith.
Beyond the competitive aspect, Mabifhi emphasized the educational and cultural significance of her journey. She expressed her keen interest in leveraging this international platform to deepen her understanding of dance. More importantly, she articulated a desire to grasp diverse interpretations and perspectives of dance and art from the various countries represented at the event, recognizing the value of understanding different points of view in the global artistic community.
