M60 crash: Police issue new update on huge smash as motorway STILL shut
Witnesses are being urged to come forward after a nine-vehicle smash which has closed the M60 for almost 24 hours.
Greater Manchester Police says three lorries, two vans and four cars were involved in the collision on Monday morning (July 7).
Police, paramedics, firefighters and highways officers all rushed out to the scene at junction 27 in Portwood, Stockport, at 11.26am.
Nine casualties were assessed at the scene before three were taken to Stepping Hill Hospital for treatment to minor injuries, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service confirmed.
Anyone who saw the collision or has relevant dashcam footage is now being urged to come forward as officers step up their investigation.
A GMP spokesperson said in a new statement on Tuesday: "Yesterday morning (July 7, 2025) at around 11.26am we were called to a road traffic collision on the M60 at junction 27, Portwood, Stockport.
"Emergency services attended and fortunately, no one was seriously injured. Three HGVs, two vans and four cars were involved in the collision. Three people were taken to hospital to be treated for minor injuries as a precaution.
"We are now appealing for any witnesses with dash cam footage of the incident to come forward to help with our enquires.

National Highways is warning drivers to expect continuing disruption, with repair work set to take place 'throughout the day'.
One lorry ploughed through the central reservation barrier, while another shed barrels of beer onto the road, and a large amount of fuel spilled onto the carriageway.
A National Highways North West spokesperson said: "The M60 in Greater Manchester remains closed both ways junction 25 to junction 1 near Stockport following an earlier collision, emergency barrier and bridge parapet repairs.
"Contractors will be working throughout the day to complete the repairs to reopen the road."
