Legendary Stevie Wonder Kicks Off 'Songs in the Key of Life' 50th Anniversary Tour!

Stevie Wonder is set to embark on an extensive 18-date tour this fall, commemorating the 50th anniversary of his beloved and critically acclaimed 1976 studio album, "Songs in the Key of Life." The legendary artist announced this special outing, where he will perform the entire LP, emphasizing the album's timeless messages of connection, healing, and joy, which remain profoundly relevant today.

The celebratory tour is scheduled to commence on October 13 at the Utilita Arena in Birmingham, U.K., initiating an international leg that will take Wonder across Europe. His itinerary includes performances in Paris at the Accor Arena on October 15, Copenhagen at the Royal Arena on October 18, Oslo at the Unity Arena on October 20, and Stockholm at 3Arena on October 22. Further European stops include Hannover at the ZAG-Arena on October 24, Cologne at the Lanxess Arena on October 26, Amsterdam at the Ziggo Dome on October 28, and Dublin at 3Arena on November 1. The U.K. leg will continue with shows in London at The O2 on November 3, Manchester at Co-op Live on November 8, and Glasgow at OVO Hydro on November 11.

Following his European engagements, the tour will return to the United States for a series of highly anticipated winter shows. The American leg will begin on November 19 at Madison Square Garden in New York, followed by concerts in Chicago at the United Center on November 21 and Washington, D.C., at the Capital One Arena on November 23. The tour includes two performances in Detroit, Michigan, at the Fox Theatre on December 8 and December 9, before culminating at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles on December 19.

Ticket sales for the international portion of the tour commenced with a presale on Wednesday, September 9, and a general on-sale following on Friday, September 11, at 10 a.m. local time. For the U.S. dates, excluding Detroit, general on-sale tickets were made available on Thursday, September 10, at 10 a.m. local time through Ticketmaster. The Detroit shows had a specific on-sale date of September 15 at 10 a.m. local time.

"Songs in the Key of Life," Stevie Wonder’s 18th studio LP, was originally released on September 28, 1976. This monumental project was presented as a double-album, accompanied by a four-track bonus EP. It rapidly achieved commercial and critical success, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart. The album generated two Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 singles: "I Wish" and "Sir Duke," and was honored with the prestigious Album of the Year award at the 1977 Grammy Awards. Beyond its chart-topping hits, the album features several beloved classics such as the opening track "Love’s in Need of Love Today," "Isn’t She Lovely," "As," and "Pastime Paradise," the latter famously sampled in Coolio’s 1995 hit "Gangsta’s Paradise."

According to a press release, Wonder, now 76 years old, will perform the entire album during the tour. He underscored that in a world still seeking connection, healing, and joy, the core messages of "Songs in the Key of Life" are as urgent and necessary today as they were in 1976. He noted that songs like "As," "Love’s in Need of Love Today," "Sir Duke," and "Isn’t She Lovely" have become deeply embedded in the emotional fabric of generations worldwide, reminding audiences of their history and identity.

In a related appearance in June, prior to this tour announcement, Wonder performed a brief set at the opening of former President Barack Obama’s Presidential Center in Chicago. During this event, he performed "All I Do" and "Signed, Sealed, Delivered I’m Yours" with The Roots, and "Higher Ground" alongside an all-star ensemble that included Bruce Springsteen, Jennifer Hudson, Christina Aguilera, John Legend, Eddie Vedder, and Common. This performance highlights Wonder's continued musical activity and influence.
