Indian Unicorn boAt Appoints New CEO, Promotes From Within!

Imagine Marketing Limited (IML), the parent company behind the renowned audio and wearable brand boAt, has announced a significant leadership change with the appointment of Gaurav Nayyar as its new Chief Executive Officer. This strategic move sees Nayyar taking the helm from co-founder Sameer Mehta, who will transition into the role of Executive Director. In his new capacity, Mehta will focus on long-term strategic initiatives and provide support to Nayyar in his leadership responsibilities.

Gaurav Nayyar brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having served as boAt’s Chief Operating Officer for three years. His professional background spans over two decades, including eight years as a Partner at the prestigious consulting firm, Bain & Company. As CEO, Nayyar is tasked with spearheading boAt’s efforts to consolidate its market leadership and broaden its diverse product portfolio, as stated by the company.

Co-Founder Aman Gupta will continue to play a crucial role as a Non-Executive Director. He will maintain his influence over the brand’s core vision and marketing strategy, ensuring continuity in the company's brand identity and outreach.

In other key developments, boAt has recently engaged with market regulator Sebi, filing draft papers for an initial public offering (IPO) through a confidential pre-filing route. The company, however, has clarified that this pre-filing does not assure the public offering will proceed. This marks boAt’s second endeavor to go public, following a previous attempt in January 2022 where it had filed draft papers for a ₹2,000 crore IPO. That earlier proposal included a fresh issue of equity shares valued at ₹900 crore and an offer for sale (OFS) amounting to up to ₹1,100 crore.
