Indian Prime Minister's Upcoming Visit to Ghana

The Republic of Ghana is set to host a historic official visit from India's Prime Minister, H.E. Narendra Modi, from Wednesday, July 2, to Thursday, July 3, 2025. This significant two-day trip, announced by the Presidency of Ghana, marks the first official visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Ghana in recent memory, underscoring the enduring and warm relations between the two nations and their commitment to a deepening strategic partnership. Presidential Spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu highlighted that the visit aims to bolster cooperation across a wide array of sectors.
The detailed itinerary for Prime Minister Modi's visit includes a crucial bilateral meeting with President John Dramani Mahama at the Jubilee House. Following this, high-level discussions are planned to cover vital areas such as trade, investment, agriculture, education, technology, healthcare, and energy. Both leaders are also expected to exchange views on pertinent regional and global developments, reflecting their shared interests on the international stage. This comprehensive agenda is designed to foster a robust framework for enhanced collaboration.
A pivotal aspect of the visit will be the signing of multiple bilateral agreements. These accords are anticipated to significantly expand the existing cooperation frameworks between Accra and New Delhi, thereby laying a strong foundation for increased economic and developmental engagement. After the signing ceremony, President Mahama and Prime Minister Modi will hold a joint press conference to elaborate on their cooperation roadmap and address the public. To honor the Indian delegation, President Mahama will host a State Dinner, bringing together key dignitaries, diplomats, and business leaders to celebrate the profound friendship between Ghana and India.
The Ghanaian Presidency views this visit as a critical juncture to solidify bilateral ties, advance economic diplomacy, and unlock new opportunities for technological and knowledge exchange. India has historically been a steadfast strategic partner in Ghana’s developmental journey, providing substantial support in critical areas like infrastructure, Information and Communications Technology (ICT), education, and industrial growth. This upcoming visit is widely regarded as a pivotal step towards further building upon and strengthening these established foundational ties, promising a future of mutual growth and prosperity.
