Iggy Azalea Shocks Fans: Declares 'No Interest' in Music Comeback

Australian-born artist Iggy Azalea has officially declared the end of her rap career, reaffirming her commitment to entrepreneurial and digital ventures. In an update shared via Instagram on November 28, Azalea responded emphatically to a fan's query about a new record deal, stating, "F*** no." She elaborated that while she had considered signing for several weeks, she is now "very sure" she does not want to return to the music industry.
This declaration follows years of gradually distancing herself from major music releases. Her last studio album, titled *The End of an Era*, was released in 2021 and was conceived as a personal milestone, marking a definitive closing chapter before she embarked on new creative paths. Azalea’s 2014 debut album, *The New Classic*, had a significant global impact, featuring the Billboard No. 1 single “Fancy,” which cemented her status as one of the most commercially successful Australian rappers of her decade.
Azalea has been vocal about various challenges within the music industry that contributed to her decision. Earlier this year, she publicly alleged on X (formerly Twitter) that Universal Music Group (UMG) owed her "millions of dollars in back pay" from international royalties, specifying an "eight-figure range." She claimed that the corporation had "technically stole" earnings from her early career. UMG did not issue a comment at the time, and Azalea has continued to advocate for artist rights and transparency in royalty payments online.
Beyond financial disputes, Azalea also discussed the immense pressures she faced at the height of her fame. During an August appearance on ABC News, she candidly recounted being labeled an "industry plant" early in her career and described the rap industry as a "battlefield." She expressed the difficulty of navigating such an environment, stating, "I was stepping on landmines left and right, and I just couldn’t survive it. It’s not survivable." While acknowledging her own mistakes, she emphasized that the emotional toll of constant public scrutiny ultimately reshaped her relationship with music, leading her to conclude that she couldn't continue to dwell on past regrets, viewing them as "just part of life."
With her music career firmly behind her, Iggy Azalea has redirected her focus entirely towards business initiatives, including various cryptocurrency projects and online creative endeavors. Her recent statements underscore the finality of her retirement from music, indicating no intentions of a comeback in the foreseeable future.
