ICYMI: a cat with a watch, Kim Jones' final campaign, and a Curren Caples pro shoe - HERO

Published 2 weeks ago3 minute read

Time flies, so to keep you in the loop, we’ve rounded up all the important snippets of fashion news from the past seven days into one neat feature.

The heritage watch brand’s Big Bang 20th Anniversary campaign is purrrrfect, placing Karl Lagerfeld’s iconic pet cat, Choupette, as the star of the show, showcasing Hublot’s classic designs in her own unique way. As the press release admits, “[Choupette] doesn’t have a wrist of know how to tell the time” – but that doesn’t matter when you exude such style and [ahem] cat-itude.

Tears continue to sporadically fall down our faces from Kim Jones’ emotional last runway show for Dior, but we’ve wiped them away so we can see Alasdair McLellan’s stripped-back, sophisticated campaign for the collection. Oh dear, here come the tears again…

You know you’ve made it when you have your own signature Vans style. And Cali skater Curren Caples is now in the club. Crafted in premium leather with waxed laces and silver accents, the shoe is available in black and red colourways, with more to be announced. The new release comes with a campaign featuring Curren photographed by Gray Sorrenti.

The Black colourway is avalable now, with a general release for the other colours on the 15th May.

Fully revv’d, this is a collab that truly makes sense. Teaming up for their ‘Born to Be Alive’ limited-edition capsule collection, the two brands celebrate their hard-wired values of freedom, self-expression, and getting gritty. Inspired by 50s motorcycle clubs and garage culture, the collection reimagines classic Americana workwear and biker fits with collaborative detailing and motifs.

Collaborating with artist and illustrator Owe Gustafson, the Swedish brand decorate twelve signature silhouettes with Gustafson’s playful illustrations – naively drawn animals and vibrant landscapes. “In a world that has become cold and harsh, offering a bit of warmth and joy feels good – and few things do that like Owe’s illustrations,” says A Days March founder, Stefan Pagréus. “We’re happy to continue collaborating with our close friend, artist, and universal genius, Owe Gustafson.”

One of London Fashion Week’s perennial favourites, Irish designer Robyn Lynch, has taken on a new creative challenge: uniform design. Lynch has crafted the newly unveiled uniforms for the V&A East Storehouse, which just opened at East Bank in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Drawing inspiration from vintage 1990s fishing vests, the uniforms are a bold burnt-orange and feature screen-printed V&A labels detailing where the materials were sourced and constructed.
