Iconic Dexter Look Ditched as 'Resurrection' Season 2 Premiere Looms!

Dexter Morgan makes his highly anticipated return in Dexter: Resurrection Season 2, set to premiere on Friday, October 30, just in time for the spooky season. A new teaser from Paramount+ throws Dexter, portrayed by Michael C. Hall, into the heart of New York City. Following events where he and Harrison (Jack Alcott) stumbled upon a network of serial killers, Dexter is now navigating the urban jungle, having embraced his "Dark Passenger" after past encounters and taking on figures like Leon Prater in Season 1.

Season 2 promises a bloodier and more complex narrative, finding Dexter caught between two formidable killers: one with decades of notoriety and a lifetime of kills, and a fresh, young face terrorizing New York in unprecedented ways. Adding to his challenges, Dexter battles a new and unexpected enemy – a midlife crisis. Meanwhile, Harrison continues his own pursuit of justice, setting the stage for father and son to face their darkest chapter yet.

The cast for Season 2 features numerous returning stars, including Uma Thurman, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Kadia Saraf, Dominic Fumusa, Desmond Harrington, and James Remar. Krysten Ritter also returns in a guest-starring role. Joining the series are new cast members such as Dan Stevens, who will portray the New York Ripper, Bokeem Woodbine, Nona Parker Johnson as a Season 2 regular, Brian Cox as the Five Borough Killer, and Gabriel Luna in a guest role.

The recently released 40-second teaser is simple yet intriguing, showing Dexter undergoing an eye exam. As the doctor repeatedly asks if it was "better before or better now," adjusting the lenses to find his correct prescription, Dexter consistently responds with "Better now." This leads to him smirking at the camera, wearing a brand-new pair of glasses, suggesting a potential new look or a sharper, more focused Dexter for the season. The teaser also hints at Dexter sharpening weapons, reinforcing the tagline "He’s back and sharper than ever."

The Dexter franchise has a rich history, with the original eight-season run on Showtime concluding in 2013. It later respawned with the 2021 miniseries Dexter: New Blood. Subsequently, Dexter: Original Sin premiered, featuring Hall in a voice acting role. Hall then returned to the screen as the serial killer in the sequel series Resurrection, which initially premiered in July to a strong viewership of 4.4 million multiplatform viewers in its first seven days. The series was developed by Clyde Phillips, who serves as showrunner and executive producer, a role he also held for the original Dexter series. Hall, along with Scott Reynolds, Marcos Siega, Tony Hernandez, Lilly Burns, John Goldwyn, Sara Colleton, Veronica West, Kirsa Rein, Tanner Bean, and Katrina Mathewson, also serve as executive producers. The series is produced by Paramount Television Studios and Counterpart Studios.
