Holy Fury: Nicki Minaj Unleashes 'God's Wrath' on NY Gov. Kathy Hochul, Demands Justice

Hip-hop superstar Nicki Minaj has ignited a firestorm of controversy with her scathing remarks directed at New York’s Governor Kathy Hochul. In a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday night, October 28, Minaj, who was born in Trinidad and Tobago but raised in Queens, New York, labeled Hochul an “evil woman.” She controversially advised that the “Democratic Party should forfeit her seat because even if she wins, she will be of great consequence to them,” further predicting a “downward spiral for her” and asserting that Hochul “will not escape God’s wrath” because she “did not denounce evil when she had the chance.”

Minaj's criticisms specifically targeted past controversial statements made by Governor Hochul. The rapper reposted a video of Hochul’s much-debated 2024 remark where she suggested that “Black kids growing up in the Bronx who don’t even know what the word ‘computer’ is.” Although Hochul apologized for the comment on the same day, stating, “I misspoke and I regret it,” Minaj vehemently reacted to the two-year-old incident. She wrote in all caps, “HOW MUCH MORE DO YOU NEED TO SEE & HEAR FROM THEM?!! HOW DARE YOU AS BLACK PEOPLE VOTE FOR THIS VILE WICKED CURSE OF A WOMAN? HOW DARE YOU AS CHRISTIANS?! SHE STAYS SILENT ON HARM BEING CAUSED TO THE INNOCENT & THIS IS WHAT SHE THINKS OF YOUR CHILDREN!”

Further fueling her public critique, Minaj also shared a video from 2025, where Governor Hochul, while addressing Black congregants at True Bethel Baptist Church about an inflation rebate initiative, joked, “Don’t stop by the liquor store, OK? Buy something for the kids — buy them some food. Sometimes I have to stop by the liquor store, too. I understand.” Minaj condemned this remark, stating, “So not only does she keep horrible company & laugh at the demonic things her friends do behind the scenes to people who aren’t as politically powerful…Dear God, help us.” The church’s bishop, however, defended Hochul’s comment at the time, explaining it was made “in [the] context” of his sermon that day.

These recent posts from Minaj align with her increasing involvement in Republican politics. She has been actively assisting Donald Trump in rallying support for Republican candidates in the current midterm elections. Beyond urging her followers to vote for Bruce Blakeman, who is running against Hochul, Minaj recently appeared at a Trump rally in Michigan. During the event, Trump notably invited her to stand up for the crowd, remarking on her “beautiful a—.”

Governor Hochul responded to Minaj’s comments during a campaign stop, suggesting that the rapper should “stop going to Trump rallies” because they are “poisoning her mind.”

Minaj’s alignment with Trump and her strong criticisms of the Democratic governor have not been without controversy. She has faced considerable backlash throughout the past year for her political leanings. The popular radio show The Breakfast Club addressed the issue on its Thursday, October 29, episode, with co-host Charlamagne tha God questioning Minaj’s “moral consistency.” He challenged her, stating, “You can have whatever political belief you want, but you have to hold everybody to the same moral standard, Nicki. You support Donald Trump. Do you know who you are even supporting? Do you apply the same moral standards to Trump that you apply to people like Kathy Hochul? Who has had more moral controversies than Trump?”
