History Made: Lainey Wilson Becomes 3rd Woman to Solo-Host CMA Awards!

Lainey Wilson is set to make history as she prepares to solo-host the upcoming CMA Awards, a prestigious event often dubbed “Country Music’s Biggest Night.” This marks a significant moment, as Wilson will become only the third woman to undertake this role alone, following in the footsteps of country music icons Dolly Parton (1988) and Reba McEntire (1991). Her previous experience includes co-hosting last year’s ceremony alongside Luke Bryan and Peyton Manning, demonstrating her growing prominence within the genre.
The decision for Wilson to host solo highlights a notable contrast in the show's history, where twice as many men have taken on the solo hosting duties, including Tennessee Ernie Ford, Glen Campbell, Johnny Cash, Kenny Rogers, Vince Gill, and Luke Bryan. Wilson's impressive track record at the CMA Awards underscores her suitability for this honor. Over the past three years, she has accumulated nine CMA Awards, including a remarkable three consecutive wins for Female Vocalist of the Year. This year, she continues to be a leading nominee, tied with Ella Langley and Megan Moroney for the most nominations, each receiving six.
Expressing her excitement, Wilson stated, “I grew up watching the CMA Awards like it was the Super Bowl, so to be hosting for a second year is a true honor. I’m humbled that CMA has trusted me with this role, and I can’t wait to love on this genre that has given me so much.”
The 59th annual CMA Awards is scheduled to broadcast live from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Wednesday, November 19, from 8-11 p.m. ET on ABC. For those who miss the live show, it will be available for streaming the following day on Hulu. The CMA Awards, first established in 1967, holds the distinction of being the longest-running annual music awards program on network television. Its nominees and winners are determined by the votes of over 7,000 professional members of the Country Music Association.
This year’s event is a production of the Country Music Association, with Robert Deaton serving as executive producer, Alan Carter as director, and Jon Macks as head writer. Tickets for the ceremony are currently available for purchase through the official CMA Awards website, offering fans a chance to experience the celebratory night firsthand.
