Harry Kane Shocks Fans: Premier League Dream Fades, Bayern Contract Looms!
England captain Harry Kane has indicated a significant shift in his career aspirations, expressing a cooled interest in returning to the Premier League and an openness to discussing a new contract with his current club, Bayern Munich. Kane is currently midway through the four-year deal he signed when he made his £86.4 million move from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2023.
Since joining the German giants, the 32-year-old striker has enjoyed a prolific period, netting an impressive 103 goals in just 106 appearances. His contributions were instrumental in Bayern Munich securing the 2024-25 Bundesliga title, marking the first major honour of his illustrious career. This success appears to have played a significant role in his evolving perspective on his future.
While Tottenham manager Thomas Frank has previously voiced his desire to see Kane return to England, where he stands 48 goals shy of Alan Shearer's all-time Premier League scoring record of 260, Kane's own priorities seem to have shifted. He admitted that if asked upon his initial departure to Bayern, he would have "for sure" said he would return. However, after a couple of years in Bavaria, that inclination has "gone down a little bit," though he wouldn't entirely rule out a future return.
Kane explicitly stated his willingness to engage in discussions regarding an extended stay at Bayern. "In terms of staying longer, I could definitely see that," he commented. He acknowledged that while conversations with the club about a new deal haven't yet taken place, he would be "willing to talk and have an honest conversation" should they arise. He also noted that any such decision would depend on the team's achievements and performance over the "next year or so."
Currently, Kane emphasized his complete dedication to his present club. "Right now, I would say we are in a fantastic moment and I am not thinking about anything else," he affirmed, adding, "fully all in with Bayern." This sentiment reinforces his focus on his current role and his contentment with his experiences in Germany, suggesting a long-term future away from the Premier League might be a strong possibility.
