Harcher unveils new EP in lively Boomplay interview
Fast-rising Afrobeats singer Abdul Rahman Yusuf, known professionally as Harcher, delivered a high-octane performance during a live-streamed interview with Boomplay on Friday, 30 May 2025, earning him the unofficial title of “King of Vibez, King of Energy”.
The hour-long session, which aired from 3:00 p.m., captivated thousands of fans online as it streamed simultaneously across Harcher’s and Bullion Records’ social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. His signature charisma and infectious energy were on full display as he offered insights into his music and career.
Central to the interview was the official announcement of his upcoming extended play (EP) project, The Great Arrival, set for release on 15 June 2025 on all major streaming platforms, including Boomplay. To celebrate the launch, an EP listening party will be held the same day at Xtacy Premium Night Club in Ikeja, Lagos, offering fans a night-long experience of music and revelry.
“This project means everything to me,” Harcher said during the broadcast. “The Great Arrival is more than just an EP—it’s a statement of who I am, what I’ve been through, and where I’m going. It’s my way of announcing myself fully to the world.”
The EP features seven tracks, including “Peace,” “Love,” and “Jo Si (Dance To It),” alongside four other genre-blending pieces which the artist described as reflections of his personal and artistic evolution.
In discussing his influences, Harcher paid tribute to a mix of international and African music icons. “I draw my energy and musical spirit from greats like Kendrick Lamar, Justin Bieber, Chris Brown, Brent Faiyaz, and Drake. And of course, I’ll never forget the African legends—2Baba, Mr. P, and Wizkid. These are the ones who’ve taken our sound beyond borders—even beyond where aeroplanes can reach.”
A highlight of the interview was the revelation that Harcher will perform at the Afrobeats Legends Festival on 26 July 2025 at London’s OVO Arena Wembley. The event is expected to bring together leading figures in the Afrobeats movement, and Harcher described his inclusion as a landmark moment in his career.
“By July 26, I’ll be joining some of these legends on the same stage,” he said. “This event will celebrate the influence of Afrobeats, and I’m honoured to be a part of it. It’s not just a festival—it’s history in the making.”
Harcher also acknowledged the role of his record label in shaping his trajectory. “I give all kudos to the Chairman and CEO of Bullion Records, Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, and the executive members of the label. Their support, vision, and belief in me have made this journey possible.”
With The Great Arrival poised for release and international stages now within reach, Harcher appears to be stepping into a new chapter of his career—one defined by ambition, sonic experimentation, and, in his own words, “vibez and energy” befitting his newly embraced moniker.
