Harcher excites Lagos crowd at MTV Base Day 2025 kickoff
Bullion Records artiste Abdul Rahman Yusuf, known as Harcher, delivered a spirited performance that headlined the Lagos edition of MTV Base Day 2025. The event took place at Voda Beach, Elegushi, Lekki, on the night of Friday, 16 May, extending into the early hours of Saturday.
MTV Base Day 2025 marks the start of a three-city tour celebrating 20 years of MTV Base in Africa. Since its launch on the continent in 2005, MTV Base has become a key platform for African youth culture, promoting emerging and established music talents.
Harcher’s energetic set drew enthusiastic cheers from a packed crowd as he demonstrated his vocal skills and stage presence. Reflecting on the experience, he said, “I’ve been watching MTV Base since I was a kid. To now have my music career elevated by the same platform is a dream come true. This performance was just a glimpse of what Bullion Records has in store. We’re taking good music lovers on a journey across the country and beyond.”
The Lagos event set the tone for the tour, transforming Voda Beach into a vibrant hub of music, fashion, and community spirit. Organisers announced the next stops will be Calabar on Sunday, 1 June, at Hogis Royale Car Park, and Abuja in August with the Romies Block Party Activation.
Harcher added, “I really enjoyed the vibes and captivating moments of my performance today. My fans should expect more energy and even bigger performances in the next cities. We’re just getting started.”
The MTV Base Day 2025 tour is part of the channel’s strategy to maintain its influence in African pop culture by supporting homegrown artists and creating immersive entertainment experiences.
“MTV Base started this journey 20 years ago with a vision for African music. Today, that vision is stronger than ever—and I’m proud to be part of it,” Harcher said.
With anticipation building for Calabar and Abuja, audiences across Nigeria look forward to more events blending music, culture, and community in MTV Base’s signature style.
