Gonzaga's Ben Gregg Enters Transfer Portal, Looks to NCAA to Grant Fifth Season of Eligibility
Gonzaga forward Ben Gregg is currently out of college eligibility, but that hasn’t stopped him from entering the transfer portal on the final day before it closed. Many players in a similar situation did the same across the nation as they believe that five years instead of four will become the new expiration date for athletes. This all will be decided in the pending House vs. NCAA antitrust settlement which has no decision date yet.
Over 150 names who have exhausted their eligibility are in the portal, including Kansas guard Zeke Mayo, Minnesota forward Dawson Garcia, Clemson forward Ian Schieffelin, Maryland forward Julian Reese to name just a few.

Gregg is following his agent’s advice while still pursuing professional basketball opportunities at the same time, according to Theo Lawson of the Spokesman Review. It’s a “very slim” chance it all comes to fruition for Gregg to play another season.
The 6’10 senior averaged a career-high 9.1 points on a 57.1 field goal percentage and 4.9 rebounds per game in 2024-25. He has played in 141 opportunities as a member of the Gonzaga program. Many would say that seems like already enough for the almost 23 year old.
