Genetec expands Montreal & London sites to meet global demand

Published 9 hours ago3 minute read

Genetec has expanded its facilities in Montreal and London to support increased global demand and a significant rise in its workforce.

The company has recorded a 65% increase in its global headcount since 2020 and now employs over 2,150 people across 20 offices spread over four continents.

The expansion of its Montreal campus brings the total area to 395,000 square feet, encompassing five separate buildings that house research and development, commercial and operational teams, an Experience Centre and two private bistros for employees and guests. This enlarged space is intended to foster collaboration and support continued growth in key departments, including research and development.

In addition to developments in Canada, Genetec has added an additional floor to its City of London office. This move forms part of a wider international growth plan that has also seen new offices established in Sydney, Dubai, Mexico City, and Washington, D.C. Expanding operations in the United Kingdom is expected to strengthen Genetec's position in this market and further its support for customers in the region.

The company has highlighted alignment of its operations with customer expectations for ongoing innovation and the importance of creating an attractive work environment as drivers for its global expansion strategy. At present, Genetec has more than 100 positions open in various departments.

The expanded facilities are aimed at providing environments that foster collaboration among staff members and promote continued innovation in physical security software and related solutions.

Andrew Elvish, Vice President of Marketing at Genetec, commented on the developments:

"We believe in the power of collaboration and have designed our offices as centers of innovation and connection. Well-designed and well-appointed offices help us attract and retain the creative, driven individuals who deliver exceptional work. The Wrecking Crew is, after all, about people and innovation - and when our people thrive, our business does too."

The ongoing growth in headcount and infrastructure expansion is also in line with recent market trends, reflecting increased global demand for security and operational efficiency solutions. Genetec's expanded Montreal headquarters now brings together several business units under one campus, enabling teams to collaborate more closely and utilise dedicated spaces such as the Experience Centre, which is intended to offer visiting clients and stakeholders insights into the company's technologies and approach.

The company's strategy includes creating working environments that not only improve operational efficiencies but also contribute to employee well-being and professional development. Providing facilities such as private bistros and experience centres is intended to support staff and enhance workplace satisfaction.

The additional floor at the London office comes at a time when the UK market for enterprise security software is growing, driving demand for more customer support and on-the-ground expertise. This expansion aligns with the overall growth strategy, which has seen Genetec extend its presence in other major cities worldwide in recent months.

With more than 2,150 employees now working in its offices globally, Genetec continues to recruit talent for a wide range of roles. Open positions span research and development, commercial operations, and support functions, which the company states will further its ability to serve customers and pursue new opportunities in a rapidly changing marketplace.
