General Motors (GM, Financial) has appointed Sterling Anderson, a former head of Tesla's (TSLA) autonomous driving project and co-founder of the self-driving startup Aurora Innovation, as its new Chief Product Officer. Anderson will oversee the development of both internal combustion and electric vehicles, including hardware, software, and services, and will report directly to GM President Mark Reuss.

GM recently shifted its focus from its autonomous taxi unit, Cruise, to the broader development of self-driving vehicles. This strategic pivot aims to enhance its SuperCruise driver-assistance features while targeting consumer sales of autonomous vehicles. By leveraging Anderson's expertise in the field, GM is poised to advance its autonomous vehicle capabilities further.

I/We may personally own shares in some of the companies mentioned above. However, those positions are not material to either the company or to my/our portfolios.
