Ex-Loewe footwear designer follows in Anderson's steps, heading to Dior - TheIndustry.fashion
Christen, known for her sculptural and often playful footwear creations, worked closely with Anderson at Loewe, where she delivered viral pieces such as balloon-wrapped heels and the toy-like Comic Foam pumps.
She announced her new role at Dior on Instagram, while a recent LinkedIn update confirms she joined the maison this month.
Her CV reads like a masterclass in luxury footwear design. A graduate of the Institut Français de la Mode, the Chilean-Swiss designer began her career at Balenciaga under Nicolas Ghesquière before working at Saint Laurent under both Stefano Pilati and Hedi Slimane. Christen later joined Phoebe Philo’s Celine, where she met Daniel Lee, who brought her to Bottega Veneta after a short stint at Dries Van Noten. At Bottega, she designed now-iconic styles including the Puddle boot and Lido sandal.
After a successful four-year run at Loewe, where she worked with Anderson for a year, Christen took up a brief position at The Row before launching her namesake label in 2024. From autumn 2025, it will be stocked by Selfridges and Dover Street Market in London.
Her arrival comes just weeks after Anderson was named Dior’s eighth couturier, marking a historic creative shift for the house. His appointment follows the dual departure of Maria Grazia Chiuri and Kim Jones, who formerly helmed the women’s and men’s lines, respectively.
The strategic move aims to streamline Dior’s aesthetic under a single creative vision amid a dip in revenues, from €9.5 billion (£8 billion) in 2023 to €8.7 billion (£7.3 billion) in 2024.
