Firm, Yabatech partner to promote talent growth

FrieslandCampina WAMCO and Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech) have entered a partnership to train students and prepare them for the job market.

The move, the firm said, was to nurture students’ talent development.

At the signing ceremony were the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Royal FrieslandCampina, The Netherlands, Jan Derck van Karnebeek, along with supervisory board members, Nils den Besten, who also doubles as the vice chairman, and Wietse Duursma.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), according to the executive director, Corporate Affairs, FrieslandCampina WAMCO, Ore Famurewa, aims to train the students and prepare them for the job market, thereby fostering a robust partnership between academia and industry.

During the event, van Karnebeek emphasised the importance of collaboration in educating and training young talent.

He said the collaboration provides a platform for further development of talents, partnerships and education for business growth.

President, the Middle East, Pakistan and Africa (MEPA) Business Group at Royal FrieslandCampina, Ali Khan, commended the students for their energy and enthusiasm.

The Managing Director, FrieslandCampina WAMCO, Roger Adou, expressed joy at being part of the engagement, describing Yabatech as a cradle of higher education.
He shared the inspiring story of a board member who is an alumnus of Yabatech who rose through the ranks, highlighting FCWAMCO’s belief in shared societal values.

Rector, Yaba College of Technology, Ibraheem Abdul, welcomed the partnership, saying the collaboration is a testament to FCWAMCO’s commitment to global cooperation, innovation, and youth empowerment.

He further said the collaboration represents a convergence of vision and values and that Yabatech is proud to be a partner.
