The Sigona Golf Club Clubhouse in Kiambu has been temporarily closed for safety inspections after a fire broke out late Friday night.

The golf course remains open, and competitions will proceed as planned.

The club’s Board of Directors said the fire started at around 11:30 p.m. and was quickly contained by the club’s fire marshals and Kiambu County emergency teams.

No injuries were reported among staff, members, or guests.

“We are grateful that everyone is safe. Our focus now is on a thorough investigation and restoring normal operations,” said Muraya Kariuki, Chairman of Sigona Golf Club.

Authorities in Kiambu have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the fire. Management has assured members that alternative bar and catering services are in place.

The incident comes two months after a similar fire at Limuru Golf Club, raising concerns over fire safety at major golf establishments.

Sigona Golf Club, founded in 1938 along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway, is one of Kenya’s top golf venues. The club said updates will be provided as more details emerge.
