ABINGTON TWP., Pa. – Schools are closed, and community members are sheltering in place after a massive fire broke out in Montgomery County.
The fire started around 9:45 p.m. Monday and quickly consumed an industrial complex at SPS Technologies in the 300 block of Highland Avenue in Abington Township.
Officials said all employees were accounted for, and there were no injuries.
The main concern was the air quality.
In a 1-mile radius, 17,000 people were told to stay inside Tuesday.
Hazmat crews did not detect any threats to the public.
Voluntarily evacuations are still recommended, and a shelter-in-place remains in effect near the site of the massive warehouse fire.

An evacuation shelter has been set up in the gym at Cheltenham High School on Rices Mill Road.
The shelter in place is for people and businesses with a one-mile radius.
The latest update from township officials is that the fire remains active, and investigations are ongoing.
Abington, Jenkintown, and Cheltenham School Districts will all be closed Wednesday.
SEPTA service was suspended on the West Trenton, Lansdale-Doylestown, and Warminster regional lines Tuesday.
It is unclear if service will be suspended Wednesday.
