LuLu Financial Holdings and Purpleplum have partnered to revolutionize commercial banking and payment delivery for UAE businesses, launching LuLu Money Business. This platform offers a comprehensive digital banking suite for SMEs, including digital Islamic accounts, AI-driven onboarding, and integrated payroll. The initiative aims to modernize financial services for the UAE's crucial SME sector and plans for international expansion.Global financial services group LuLu Financial Holdings (LFH) has announced a strategic partnership with fintech infrastructure provider Purpleplum to significantly enhance commercial banking and payment delivery for businesses in the UAE. This collaboration will see Purpleplum’s core-agnostic orchestration platform powering LuLu Money Business, LFH’s dedicated financial proposition tailored for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and larger enterprises. The agreement aims to streamline existing banking rails, payment networks, and operational workflows into a single, cohesive interface, ultimately modernizing financial services for the underserved SME segment.
The formalization of this partnership took place in the presence of key executives, including Adeeb Ahamed, managing director of LuLu Financial Holdings, and Purpleplum co-founders Kalyan Karteek Sadasivuni and Sai Sandeep Sadasivuni. The initial phase of this rollout focuses on establishing a comprehensive digital banking suite specifically designed for SMEs.
A crucial component of this deployment involves the issuance of digital business accounts in partnership with ruya, an Islamic digital bank that is licensed and regulated by the Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE). Through a unified application layer, LuLu Money Business will consolidate several critical operational capabilities, including:
- Digital Islamic Accounts: Direct issuance of fully regulated corporate banking infrastructure through ruya.
- Agentic AI Onboarding: Digital account opening processes managed by autonomous AI workflows, with thousands of commercial applications currently under review.
- Payroll & Compliance Rails: Seamless integration with the UAE’s Wages Protection System (WPS) and automated salary administration, building upon LuLu Exchange’s established corporate payroll network.
- Commercial Payments & Cards: Provision of consolidated payment tools, corporate expense cards, and global remittances, leveraging LFH’s robust cross-border settlement infrastructure.
This initiative directly addresses a vital segment of the UAE economy. Data from the UAE Ministry of Economy and Tourism indicates that SMEs constitute nearly 95 percent of all businesses in the country, encompassing approximately 1.33 million registered entities. This sector contributes 63 percent to the national GDP and accounts for over 85 percent of private-sector employment, highlighting its significant economic impact and the critical need for improved financial services.
