FIFA Showdown Looms: Trabzonspor Drags Al Ahli Over Paul Onuachu Transfer Saga!
Turkish Süper Lig club Trabzonspor has filed a complaint with FIFA against Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli over their alleged unauthorized approach to star player Paul Onuachu. Trabzonspor claims Al-Ahli contacted Onuachu, who has two years left on his contract, without the club's consent. The Turkish club is open to selling Onuachu for €10-15 million, provided he formally requests the transfer.
Turkish Süper Lig club Trabzonspor has initiated a formal complaint with FIFA against Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli concerning the transfer of their star player, Paul Onuachu. This action stems from allegations that Al-Ahli made direct contact and an offer to Onuachu without obtaining Trabzonspor's prior consent, a clear violation of football's transfer regulations.
Paul Onuachu, a Super Eagles star, was an indispensable asset for Trabzonspor during the past season. His remarkable performance, which included contributing 17 goals and four assists in just 25 appearances across all competitions, was crucial in helping the Black Sea Storm secure a top-three finish and clinch the Turkish Cup. Onuachu's prolific goalscoring form made him a strong contender for the league's top-scorer title, and his consistent displays naturally drew significant interest from various clubs in Europe and beyond.
Among the interested parties, Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli has shown particularly strong interest, reportedly seeking to bolster their squad with quality players. Reports indicate that Al-Ahli is prepared to offer Onuachu a salary four times his current earnings, which would represent the most substantial paycheck of his career if the move were to materialize.
However, Trabzonspor has expressed strong dissatisfaction with Al-Ahli's handling of the situation. According to Puskas Sports, the Turkish club's complaint to FIFA is specifically about Al-Ahli's unauthorized approach to Onuachu. With two years still remaining on his contract, current regulations stipulate that Al-Ahli would only be permitted to negotiate directly with the player during the final six months of his existing deal. Trabzonspor alleges that the Saudi club has circumvented these established rules by contacting Onuachu prematurely.
Despite the ongoing dispute, Trabzonspor is reportedly open to selling Onuachu, but they have set a clear valuation for the player, expecting a transfer fee in the range of €10-15 million. Additionally, the Turkish club requires Onuachu to formally request a transfer himself, an action he has yet to undertake. While the player's future remains uncertain, he is keen for a swift resolution. Should FIFA rule in favor of Trabzonspor, Al-Ahli is likely to face a disciplinary fine for their alleged breach of transfer protocols.
