FDA Issues Urgent Recall: Repackaged M&M's Trigger Dangerous Allergy Alert!

A significant recall is currently underway for M&M's chocolate candies distributed in 20 states, following a revelation by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that the products may contain undeclared milk, soy, and peanut allergens. These particular M&M's were repackaged by Beacon Promotions Inc. and initially recalled on January 26. The FDA has assigned this recall a Class II risk level, which is the second-highest classification, indicating that exposure to these allergens can cause severe allergic reactions in individuals with sensitivities to milk, soy, or peanuts.

The affected products were not intended for general retail sale but were repackaged and distributed for marketing purposes. Specifically, the recall includes 1.3-ounce bags of Peanut M&M's labeled as "Make Your Mark," identified by lot code M1823200 and a best-by date of April 30, 2026.

Additionally, the recall covers 1.3-ounce bags of regular M&M's that feature various company names such as "Subaru," "Adobe," and "xfinity." These regular M&M's are associated with specific lot codes and best-by dates: Lot L450ARCLV03 with a best-by date of December 1, 2025; Lot L502FLHKP01 with a best-by date of January 1, 2026; Lot L523CMHKP01 with a best-by date of June 30, 2026; and Lot L537GMHKP01 with a best-by date of September 1, 2026. A comprehensive list of companies labeled on the recalled products can be found in the official FDA report.

The recalled M&M's were distributed across a wide range of states, including Alabama, Arizona, California, Florida, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maryland, Minnesota, North Carolina, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin.

As these products were unlikely to have been sold in retail stores, the FDA did not issue specific instructions for consumers to check their pantries. However, individuals with known milk, soy, or peanut allergies are advised to exercise caution and consider avoiding any M&M's that they did not purchase directly from a verified retail source, as a precautionary measure to prevent potential allergic reactions.
