The chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, has dumped the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the All-Progressives Congress (APC).

Maikalangu was elected on the platform of the PDP in 2023.

A statement on Monday by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Public Affairs, Kingsley Madaki, said the chairman decided to dump the PDP because residents of the council were losing opportunities in terms of federal jobs and appointments.

He expressed confidence that the APC would provide him with a better platform to achieve his goals and improve the lives of the AMAC citizens.

He said, “It was important we took a position and the position we took is for the good of our democracy and to ensure that the good people of AMAC move forward.
