Grammy

Let’s cut to the chase: the 67th Grammy Awards was a snooze fest. In comparison, the Golden Globes’ red carpet was a blooming petri dish out of which some noteworthy trends arose (like off-the-shoulder gowns) – and that’s saying something. We’re not expecting VMA-level of craziness – no, Gaga cannot turn up to the Grammys, arguably the Oscars of the music world, in a meat dress. Though, in her custom Samuel Lewis Victorian gown, she was the only one who brought something different to the red carpet otherwise inundated with column gowns with cut-outs. They were pretty, but they had nothing to say. Nor were they able to convey any excitement – of being worn to an event of epic proportions.

Like Gaga, though, there were a few breakout red carpet stars. Sabrina Carpenter, who won an award for Best Pop Vocal Album, brought some gravitas with her blue old-Hollywood glamour dress. Chappell Roan gave a stellar performance on stage and on the red carpet with her signature makeup and vintage artsy dress from Jean Paul Gaultier’s SS03 collection. Beyonce finally won Album of the Year and collected her award in the most form fitting dress from Schiaparelli. Doechii’s statement-making Thom Browne was as worthy of applause as her speech upon winning the Best Rap Album – only the second woman to do so. Rapper Cardi B who attended the event as a presenter, kept it true in the Roberto Cavalli body-hugging dress. On that note, here are the looks from the 67th Grammy Awards.
