Man Confesses to Stabbing Wife to Death in Lagos After Dispute
Lagos State Police have apprehended Peter Dike following the tragic death of his wife. Dike is accused of fatally stabbing his wife during a domestic dispute that occurred at their residence in the Oke Ira Ilogbo Eremi community in Morogbo. The incident took place on Wednesday, as a heated argument spiraled into a violent confrontation.
Reports indicate that the argument between Dike and his 38-year-old wife, whose identity has not yet been released, escalated rapidly. In the throes of the altercation, Dike allegedly retrieved a kitchen knife and inflicted multiple stab wounds on his wife's body. Eyewitness accounts describe a gruesome scene, with the victim collapsing in a pool of blood and succumbing to her injuries shortly thereafter.
Notably, Dike did not attempt to flee the scene after the alleged attack. Instead, he reportedly remained beside his wife’s body until law enforcement officials arrived to take him into custody.
Confirming the arrest and details of the incident, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, stated that officers on surveillance and township monitoring patrol were promptly alerted to the crime and responded swiftly. "The case is confirmed. After a team of detectives in the area got the information, they swiftly moved in and arrested the suspect. One kitchen knife stained with blood was recovered from him. He confessed to the crime," Hundeyin said.
The victim’s body has been transported to the General Hospital morgue in Badagry. The case has been officially transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba, for a thorough and continued investigation.
