Several incidents involving arson and mistaken identity have recently made headlines. In New York City, a 45-year-old man was attacked and set on fire near Times Square early Sunday morning. According to the NYPD, the victim was transported to Weill Cornell Hospital in stable condition with burns on his face and shoulders. The incident occurred around 4 a.m. at the intersection of Seventh Avenue and 41st Street. Authorities are currently investigating the attack, and no arrests have been made. It remains unclear whether the victim was specifically targeted or if the attack was random. A video of the aftermath, showing the victim's injuries, was posted on YouTube by Freedom News TV.

In a separate incident, Jim Vennard, a 61-year-old electrical engineer from Missouri, received a $250 ticket for allegedly passing a stopped school bus in Stony Brook, New York – a place he claims he has never visited. NewsdayTV reported on Vennard's predicament, highlighting the issue of mistaken identity and the challenges individuals face when contesting such tickets.

Meanwhile, in Germany, police in Gera are investigating an attempted murder case. A man allegedly doused a woman in a tram with a combustible liquid and set her alight on Sunday morning. The victim, believed to be the 46-year-old wife of the suspect, sustained life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to a hospital. The attack took place around 10 a.m. local time. Other passengers activated the emergency stop, but the suspect managed to escape. The tram driver quickly used a fire extinguisher to put out the flames. Authorities are providing psychological care to the other passengers and the driver. The motive for the attack is currently unknown, and an investigation is ongoing.
