Explosive Demand: Atiku Dares Tinubu to Expose Alleged Bribery in Government Ranks!

Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has publicly challenged President Bola Tinubu to disclose the names of ministers and other officials allegedly involved in a bribery scheme to secure their appointments. This demand follows claims made by Alwan Hassan, a spokesperson for the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, who stated that ministers paid billions of naira for their positions under the Tinubu administration.

Atiku, in a post on his X handle, directly questioned President Tinubu, stating, “Bola @officialABAT, your campaign spokesman has admitted that ministers paid billions in bribes to secure their appointments. You appointed them, so who received the money? Nigerians deserve names, not silence.” He further criticized the administration for the escalating cost of living and its handling of ministry funds, alleging that “reckless decisions” have exacerbated the economic crisis and that withholding funds due to distrust in ministers leaves Nigerians neglected.

Alwan Hassan made the contentious allegations during an interview on Arise News while defending the Tinubu administration in anticipation of the 2027 general election. He asserted that “a lot of ministers pay billions to be appointed, and the first thing they think of is how to recoup that money after being appointed.” Hassan also clarified that this practice is not unique to the APC, noting, “It is the truth about our country and not just APC ministers; it started before the APC.” However, he refrained from naming any specific minister involved or identifying those who purportedly received the payments.

Hassan's remarks emerged amidst intense political debates concerning the performance of the Tinubu administration as political parties gear up for the upcoming 2027 general election. Despite the controversy, he cited initiatives in the power and education sectors, such as funding for electricity meters and the renovation of primary schools, as examples of the administration’s achievements. Atiku’s direct challenge has intensified scrutiny on Hassan’s bribery claims, pressing President Tinubu to provide transparency and answers to the Nigerian public regarding the alleged illicit transactions for ministerial appointments.
