The Clerk to Parliament, Ebenezer Ahumah Djiet­ror, has admonished staff of the Parliamentary Service to continue to exhibit diligence and seriousness in the execution of their responsibilities to help drive excellence in parliamentary work.

He further encouraged work­ers to take personal interest in acquiring additional knowledge to make them more well-rounded, competent, and better positioned to contribute meaningfully to the institutional growth of parliament.

Mr Djietror made the call at the opening of a four-day middle-level management training workshop organised by the parliamentary service through the Parliamentary Training Institute (PTI) at Go­moa-Fetteh in the Central Region.

He noted that the training forms part of a broader strategic initiative to institutionalise struc­tured staff development across all levels of the Service.

The workshop is designed to boost the capacity of middle-level managers in areas such as leader­ship and strategic management, governance and parliamentary operations, legislative procedures, change management, performance improvement, and public financial management.

“It represents not only a re­sponse to a longstanding need but also a bold and deliberate step to­wards institutionalising structured capacity building for our offices,” he said.

Mr Djietror explained that the initiative is grounded in Regulation 87 of the Parliamentary Service Staff Regulations, 2019 (C.I. 118), and marks a defining milestone in the Service’s journey to becoming more professional, efficient, and future-oriented.

He stressed that middle-level managers play a vital role in linking senior management with operational teams, adding that their work ensures continuity, translates policies into action, and upholds the standards that define the Parlia­mentary Service.

“This training programme will not be a one-off event. Rather, it has been conceived as part of a broader, long-term strategic mis­sion aimed at nurturing a robust learning culture across all levels of the Service,” he added.

The Clerk, who also serves as Chief Advisor to the Speaker of Parlia­ment and Members of Parliament, expressed appreciation to the PTI for designing train­ing programmes that respond to the evolving needs of parliamentary work. He urged the institute to deepen collaboration with departments and directorates to ensure alignment with service-wide priorities.

He commended the facilitators and coordinators for delivering an engaging programme, saying “You will leave here as individuals and as bureaucrats who have broadened your perspectives so that you can handle matters carefully, diligently, and conscientiously in the best interest of the Service.”
