Emergency crews battle fire on South Side

CHICAGO — Emergency crews were called to the scene of a fire that broke out at a home on the city’s South Side on Thursday afternoon.

It is unclear when exactly the blaze erupted, but crews were on the scene working to contain the flames at around 4:30 p.m.

The blaze appears to have broken out in a garage or shed behind a home in the area.

SkyCam 9 was over the scene around that time when several firefighters could be seen surrounding the fire as thick white smoke billowed from the building.
