The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officially presented the certificate of return to Governor Biodun Oyebanji on Tuesday, solidifying his victory in the recent Ekiti State governorship election. Governor Biodun Oyebanji, representing the All Progressives Congress (APC), had been declared the winner of the gubernatorial poll conducted on Saturday, June 20, 2026. The official results, meticulously announced by the electoral body on Sunday, confirmed Oyebanji's commanding lead, as he garnered an impressive 319,224 votes. His closest contender, Dr Wole Oluyede of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), secured 40,543 votes, while Dare Bejide of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) placed third with 12,872 votes.
A total of 15 political parties actively participated in the election, which was meticulously organized and conducted across all local government areas of the state.
