East Africa Shines: Tanzania Sends Six to Miss Tourism Finals!

Tanzania is set to make a significant presence at the Miss Tourism East Africa 2026 finals, scheduled to be held at the Marriott Hotel in Kampala, Uganda, from September 5th to 12th. Uniquely, Tanzania will send six contestants to the competition, double the standard allocation of three representatives per participating country. This delegation will comprise three contestants from mainland Tanzania and three from Zanzibar, showcasing the nation's diverse beauty and cultural heritage.

The six representatives from Tanzania include Edina Joseph Michael from Mara, Rosemary Kokushubila Galibona from Kagera, Loyce Lamecky Nganga from Dodoma, Khadija Azary Rashid from Dar es Salaam, Edina Mandwa from Mwanza, and Hellen Dominic Kazimili from Shinyanga. These individuals will represent their country on an international stage, vying for the prestigious title among contestants from across East Africa.

The Miss Tourism East Africa event is orchestrated by the Miss Tourism Africa Organisation, with the Africa Tourism Promotion Centre (ATPC) coordinating the Tanzanian delegation. Countries confirmed to participate in this regional pageant include Kenya, Uganda, South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Burundi, Somalia, alongside mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar.

Erasto Chipungahelo, president of the ATPC and founder of Miss Tourism Tanzania, expressed optimism about the Tanzanian representatives' performance. He stated, "We believe our representatives will continue this record and represent Tanzania with dignity and professionalism," emphasizing the country's intent to build upon its past successes in international tourism pageants.

Contestants at the finals are expected to engage in various activities designed to promote tourist attractions, cultural heritage, and tourism opportunities within the region. The organisers are also placing a strong emphasis on what they term "African values," which encompass modest dress and respect for local traditions. To ensure the Tanzanian delegation is well-prepared, the ATPC is actively seeking sponsorship and support from companies, institutions, and other partners. Key areas identified for financial assistance include transport, clothing, beauty and personal preparation, media and marketing, tourism visits, training, and content production.

In parallel with these international preparations, Miss Tourism Tanzania is also gearing up for its national grand finale, which is slated to take place on December 8th of this year, further solidifying the country's commitment to promoting tourism through pageantry.
