The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has achieved a resounding victory in the recent Bauchi State local government elections, securing all 20 chairmanship seats contested on Monday. The Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC) officially declared these comprehensive results late Monday night, marking a significant political development in the state's local governance landscape.

Hon. Hajiya Jummai S. Abubakar, the esteemed Chairperson of BASIEC, made the official announcement, confirming the triumph of all 20 APM candidates as chairmen for their respective local government areas. She stated, "Following the conclusion of voting, counting, collation and verification, I, Hon. Hajiya Jummai S. Abubakar (Gimbiyar Dass), Chairperson of BASIEC, hereby declared that all 20 APM candidates emerged victorious as Chairmen of the respective Local Government Areas."

Detailed results from the commission reveal the scale of APM's success across various local government areas. Bappah Aliyu Mohammed won Alkaleri LGA with an impressive 107,482 votes, while Umar Mohammed Aliyu secured Bauchi LGA with 125,170 votes. Zakka Luka Magaji emerged victorious in Bogoro LGA with 25,282 votes. Iliya Isah won Dambam LGA with 19,730 votes, and Ya’u Samaila Sade triumphed in Darazo with 67,276 votes. Mohammed Abubakar Jibo clinched the chairmanship for Dass local government with 35,264 votes.

Further cementing their dominance, APM candidates also secured wins for Ali Babayo in Gamawa LGA with 54,423 votes, Mohammed Idris M in Ganjuwa LGA with 24,150 votes, and Mustapha Alhaji Musa in Giade with 33,864 votes. Dankawuwa Ya’u secured Itas/Gadau with 24,989 votes, and Inuwa Abdullahi was victorious in Jama’are with 36,766 votes. Yusuf Babayo Zaki won in Katagum with 65,626 votes, Garba Musa in Kirfi with 24,787 votes, and Salisu Hussaini in Misau with 34,378 votes. Yahuza Adamu Haruna was declared winner in Ningi with 29,387 votes.

The electoral success extended to Shira LGA, where former majority leader of the Bauchi state House Assembly, Saleh Hodi Jibir, polled 37,135 votes. Sama’ila Wakili Lere won Tafawa Balewa with 46,625 votes, and Abubakar Ibrahim Dembo emerged winner in Toro with a significant 109,999 votes. Habibu Idris Usman secured Warji with 43,066 votes, and Mas’ud Aliyu claimed victory in Zaki with 19,984 votes, completing the clean sweep for the APM in the chairmanship category.

Beyond the chairmanship, the APM also demonstrated overwhelming dominance in the councillorship elections, winning 319 out of the 323 ward seats contested across Bauchi State. The remaining four seats were distributed among different political parties: the Social Democratic Party (SDP) won Dandango Ward in Bauchi LGA, the National Rescue Movement (NRM) secured Darazo South Ward in Darazo LGA, the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) took Wandi Ward in Dass LGA, and the Young Progressive Party (YPP) won Zirami Ward in Giade LGA.

In her closing remarks, the BASIEC Chairperson affirmed that all successful candidates were duly elected, having met all legal requirements and obtained the highest valid votes in their respective constituencies. She extended her gratitude to Governor Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir for his unwavering support to the commission, emphasizing that the elections were conducted with full independence and strict adherence to legal frameworks. Hon. Abubakar concluded by congratulating the people of Bauchi State and all newly elected officials on the successful conclusion of the local government elections.
