Doechii Tackles 'Industry Plant' Allegations with Potent New Single Featuring SZA

Doechii concluded her impactful 2025 campaign with the release of a new single on Tuesday, December 30th, titled “Girl, Get Up.” This track features fellow Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE) artist SZA, creating a distinctive and atmospheric collaboration. In the song, the Tampa Bay rapper directly confronts and dismisses online speculation suggesting she is an “industry plant,” asserting her authenticity and hard-earned success. She challenges these narratives, stating, “All that industry plant s—t whack/ I see it on the blogs, I see you in the chats/ You suck every rap n—a d—k from the back/ But what’s the agenda when the it girl Black.”
The acclaimed artist emphasizes that her achievements and accolades are the direct result of her relentless dedication and hard work. She proclaims, “Y’all can’t fathom that I work this hard/ And y’all can’t fathom that I earned this chart.” Doechii, a 27-year-old Grammy winner, further leverages her platform in the third verse by referencing a significant co-sign from Kendrick Lamar. She also announces her intention to tackle the pervasive issue of misogyny within hip-hop on her forthcoming, highly anticipated album, promising, “They callin’ me the intellect amongst the p—y rap/ I still be poppin’ p—y, them my sisters, so I can’t agree with that/ These n—s misogynistic, I’ll address it on the album.”
This collaboration is not the first between Doechii and SZA; the “Snooze” singer previously appeared on the remix of Doechii’s track “Persuasive” in 2022, highlighting their established musical synergy. Doechii is poised to further build upon her Grammy success at the 2026 Grammy Awards, where she garnered five nominations. These nominations are primarily for her first top 10 Billboard Hot 100 hit, “Anxiety,” a Gotye-sampling song. The nominations include prestigious categories such as Best Rap Song, Best Rap Performance, Best Music Video, Song of the Year, and Record of the Year, underscoring her significant impact and critical acclaim in the music industry. The candid single “Girl, Get Up” is available for listeners.
