Documentary on Blackpink's Lisa Confirmed with Sue Kim as Director

A new documentary spotlighting K-pop superstar Lisa of Blackpink is currently in production, an announcement made by Sony Music Vision during its inaugural content showcase in Los Angeles. The film, helmed by director Sue Kim, is set to chronicle Lisa's journey as she navigates and expands her solo career, offering an intimate and in-depth look into her life, creative processes, and vision distinct from her activities with Blackpink.

This highly anticipated documentary aims to provide fans with a unique and exclusive glimpse into Lisa's world, documenting her experiences and growth as a solo artist. It will reportedly follow the global pop star for an entire year, exploring her career trajectory and the establishment of her individual identity within the entertainment industry, away from the globally renowned group.

Director Sue Kim has expressed her intention to capture the "off-stage Lisa," revealing the artist's more personal and down-to-earth side. Kim shared, "I really tried to impress upon Lisa how much not just me — but I think the world — wants to see off-stage Lisa." She further elaborated on Lisa's genuine nature, stating, "She loves to refer to herself as ‘I’m just a normal girl from Thailand.’ And when you meet her, she actually is. She’s so down-to-earth. It’s quite shocking and so real and so sincere. But she’s very incredibly found herself in this crazy position of being one of the biggest superstars in the world, and even within that world, she’s trying to expand out of it."

The documentary is expected to cover several of Lisa's significant solo achievements. These include the release of her debut solo album 'Alter Ego,' which impressively reached the Top 10 on the Billboard 200 chart and secured the No. 1 spot on the top album sales chart. Her groundbreaking first-ever solo performance at Coachella and her acting debut in the third season of the acclaimed series 'The White Lotus' are also anticipated to be featured prominently.

The production is a collaborative effort, with LLOUD CO/RCA Records and Tremolo Productions partnering on the project. The team of producers includes Morgan Neville, Caitrin Rogers, Sue Kim, and Courtney Crockett. Sony Music Vision will present and distribute the film, in partnership with RCA Records, bringing Lisa's story to a global audience.

Beyond the documentary, Lisa remains active on multiple fronts. She is reportedly set to embark on a tour with her fellow Blackpink members. Additionally, her performance in 'The White Lotus' has led to her name being submitted for Emmy consideration in the 'Best Supporting Actress' category, highlighting her expanding presence in the entertainment world.

This documentary promises to be a significant exploration of Lisa's multifaceted career, offering fans and viewers a deeper understanding of her journey, artistry, and the person behind the global superstar persona as she continues to carve her own path.
