Denzel Washington continues to dominate Hollywood headlines, but one of his most beloved action franchises is now experiencing a major streaming resurgence more than a decade after its debut.
The Equalizer, first released in 2014, has climbed back into the list of the most-streamed movies on Prime Video in the U.S., proving the lasting appeal of Washington’s portrayal of former black-ops operative Robert McCall.
The action thriller, often compared to John Wick and Reacher, helped launch a successful trilogy that expanded into one of Washington’s most recognized modern franchises. The film is also expected to begin streaming free on Tubi from June 1.
Directed by Antoine Fuqua, The Equalizer marked another successful collaboration between the filmmaker and Washington following the Oscar-winning crime drama Training Day. The franchise later expanded with sequels released in 2018 and 2023, further cementing its popularity among action audiences.
