Daft Punk Shock Fans with Epic (Brick) Builder Collab Featuring Classic Toy Brand!
The LEGO Group has announced an exciting new partnership with electronic music legends Daft Punk, inspired by a fan-created LEGO Ideas project of their iconic Pyramid stage. This collaboration promises new products, content, and experiences, celebrating the shared creativity and fan communities of both brands. Expect a unique mashup of music, culture, and creative spaces to unfold.
A unique partnership has been forged between The LEGO Group and the legendary electronic music duo Daft Punk, sparked by a fan-created LEGO set. This collaboration, announced on Thursday, October 22, aims to “inspire and remix fandoms” by offering a range of “product, content and brand experiences” that celebrate the creativity and communities of both iconic brands.
The genesis of this exciting team-up traces back to the LEGO Ideas community, an initiative that encourages fans to submit original concepts for potential official LEGO products. A father-and-son duo from Luxembourg, Patrick Harboun, conceived a LEGO set that paid homage to Daft Punk’s iconic Pyramid stage from their renowned 2007 Alive tour. This project emerged as a creative outlet during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020 and went on to win the Grand Prize of the LEGO Ideas Music to Our Ears challenge in the same year, garnering the support of 10,000 fans to advance to the next stage of becoming an official LEGO set.
The announcement of the partnership was accompanied by a captivating short film. This teaser depicted minifigure representations of Daft Punk members Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo following a holographic red brick through a mysterious landscape, eventually leading them to the “gates of play” where they activate a LEGO brick console. The film’s soundtrack featured the distinctive bass line from “Voyager” (from their 2001 album, *Discovery*) and the title track from their 2005 LP, *Human After All*.
Julia Goldin, LEGO Group chief product & marketing officer, highlighted the shared appeal of both brands. She stated, “What makes this partnership so special is the enduring appeal both brands share. Like the LEGO brand, Daft Punk inspires generations through creativity, innovation and a deep connection with fans.” Goldin expressed enthusiasm for building upon these foundations to reimagine Daft Punk’s legacy in a fresh and unexpected manner, creating something unique that resonates with fans of all ages, describing it as “just the beginning of a bigger journey – a creative collab made for fans ready to lose themselves to play.”
Patrick Harboun reflected on the journey of his family project, remarking, “This all started as a creative escape during lockdown between my son and I because of our shared love of Daft Punk and LEGO building. We never dared imagine it would take off in this way. Watching our passion project become part of an official collaboration is an incredible experience, and it’s a reminder of what makes the LEGO Ideas community so special. That a simple idea, shared by fans, really can become something much bigger.”
Beyond the initial set, the collaboration promises to integrate Daft Punk into a variety of other LEGO tie-ins. The company indicated plans for “a mashup of surprising events and content that crosses music, culture and creative spaces.” Cédric Hervet, creative director for Daft Punk, expressed that the fan-designed pyramid stage serves as a fitting launch point for the partnership. He noted, “The pyramid stage is one of the most recognizable expressions of Daft Punk’s visual world, so it feels fitting that this fan-created design will be center stage of this partnership. Fans have always played an important part in Daft Punk’s story, and we are excited to see that creativity reflected through the LEGO universe.” More details regarding the full scope of this creative collaboration are anticipated to be revealed in 2027.
