Crypto Investor Charged with Kidnapping and Torture in NYC

A crypto investor, John Woeltz, 37, was arrested on Friday and charged with kidnapping and torture. According to The New York Times, the arrest followed the escape of a man from a Manhattan townhome who reported to authorities that Woeltz and another man had kidnapped him. The victim stated they were "beating, shocking and torturing him for weeks" because he refused to provide his Bitcoin password. This news mirrors a recent Wall Street Journal report highlighting a surge of violent attacks targeting cryptocurrency investors both in the US and globally.
In Denver, the City Council has allocated $693,000 to remove homeless individuals from the streets of downtown, near Ballpark, and on Capitol Hill. A memo from city staff to the council indicates that Dream Center Denver will be responsible for providing street outreach services to an average of 125 homeless individuals weekly. These services include peer navigation, referrals to community services, and encampment cleanup, which involves removing 100-150 pounds of trash weekly, needle removal, and graffiti removal. Additionally, Dream Center Denver coordinates a weekly community dinner that serves 120 homeless individuals, during which they also provide resource navigation services.
