Crisis Rocks NPFL Giant: Kano Pillars Axes Coach Amidst Woeful Form

Kano Pillars Football Club has announced the immediate suspension of its Technical Adviser, Ogenyi Evans, and Chief Coach, Ahmed Garba Yaro Yaro. This decisive action was taken by the club's management following what was described as the team’s “unsatisfactory performance” in the ongoing 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season. The decision was formally communicated in a statement signed by Abubakar Isah Dandago, the club’s Media and Communications Director.
The management emphasized that the suspensions were necessitated by a persistent poor run of results. So far in the current NPFL season, Kano Pillars have played eight matches, securing only two wins, two draws, and suffering four losses. This record has evidently fallen short of the club's expectations, prompting the leadership to make changes to the technical staff.
In the wake of these suspensions, the club has moved swiftly to appoint interim coaches. Former club captain and current Assistant Coach, Gambo Muhammad, will now take charge of the team’s technical duties, working alongside goalkeeping coach, Suleiman Shuaibu. Additionally, Coach Garzali Muhammad (Kusa) from the Junior Pillars will provide support in an ad-hoc capacity. These interim appointments will stand pending further directives from the club’s management.
This development comes at a particularly turbulent period for the 'Sai Masu Gida' team, who have faced significant struggles in recent weeks beyond their on-field performance. The club was also recently penalized with a substantial fine exceeding N9 million by the Nigeria Premier Football League board. This fine was imposed due to severe crowd disturbances that occurred during a recent home fixture held at the Sani Abacha Stadium. The incident involved fans invading the pitch in protest of referee decisions, which unfortunately led to multiple injuries sustained by players and officials of the visiting team.
