Country Sensation Megan Moroney Lands Third Top 10 Hit with '6 Months Later'

Megan Moroney has achieved her third top 10 hit on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart as her single “6 Months Later” climbed to No. 10 on the ranking dated November 22. The track saw a 6% increase, reaching 18.3 million in audience from November 7-13. Moroney co-wrote the song with Rob Hatch, David Mescon, and Ben Williams. This achievement marks her return to the Country Airplay top 10 after her previous hit “Am I Okay?” reached No. 2 in June, following her debut entry “Tennessee Orange,” which peaked at No. 4 in June 2023.
Since her first week in the Country Airplay top 10 in May 2023, Moroney now ties Ella Langley for the second-most top 10s among women. Only Lainey Wilson has garnered more in that period, with five. Other women who have notched a single top 10 hit in this same stretch include Priscilla Block (with Justin Moore), Ashley Cooke, Dasha, Jessie Murph (with Koe Wetzel), Carly Pearce (with Chris Stapleton), and Carrie Underwood (with Cody Johnson).
Further demonstrating her growing momentum, Moroney’s track “Beautiful Things” also gained traction on the latest list, advancing from No. 39 to No. 37 with 3.2 million in audience, marking a 15% increase. Both “6 Months Later” and “Beautiful Things” are set to be featured on her third studio album, titled “Cloud 9,” which is scheduled for release on February 20.
In other chart news, Cody Johnson & The Rockin’ CJB made their entrance on the Country Airplay chart at No. 57 with their cover of The Chicks’ “Travelin’ Soldier,” accumulating 1.2 million in audience. This song, originally written and recorded by Bruce Robison, has been a staple in Johnson’s live performances for several years. He initially recorded it during a 2020 livestream, and its frequent request by crowds prompted the release of a new studio version on November 7, just prior to Veterans Day.
The Chicks’ original rendition of “Travelin’ Soldier” previously topped the Country Airplay chart for a week in March 2003, marking their sixth and most recent chart-topper. That run was famously cut short following widely reported comments made by the group’s Natalie Maines regarding then-U.S. president George W. Bush.
