Committee to unveil late Justice Ajibola's autobiography

An autobiography chronicling the life of the late jurist and diplomat, Prince Bola Ajibola, is set to be publicly presented in Lagos on April 10, 2025.
The book, titled “Tribulations & Trophies, Bola Ajibola… In His Own Words!” the book captures the remarkable life and legacy of one of Nigeria’s most revered legal minds and international diplomats.
According to a statement by the Chairman of the Bola Ajibola Book Presentation Committee, Prof. Ibraheem Gbajabiamila, the presentation will take place at the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The event is expected to attract high-profile guests including senior government officials, diplomats, industry leaders, and eminent figures from the legal and educational sectors, both within and outside Nigeria.
“Judge Ajibola’s life’s work, etched in service and dedication, spans a commendable tenure as a jurist, public servant, diplomat, and advocate for global peace,” Prof. Gbajabiamila stated.
He further noted that, “Bola Ajibola stood as a beacon of vision, wisdom, sacrifice, and integrity. His journey from the humble corridors of Owu Day School, Abeokuta, to the grand halls of the International Court of Justice in The Hague is truly inspiring.”
The event will be chaired by former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, former Vice President and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, will deliver the keynote address, while former Lagos State Governor, Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN, is billed to give a special address. The book will be reviewed by Professor Auwal Yadudu.
Also expected at the ceremony are notable industrialists such as Alhaji Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Group; Alhaji Abdul Samad Rabiu, President of BUA/ASR Group; and Sir (Dr) Kensington Adebukola Adebutu, among other dignitaries.
Prince Bola Ajibola, who passed away in 2023, served as Nigeria’s Attorney General and Minister of Justice from 1985 to 1991, and later as a judge at the International Court of Justice between 1991 and 1994.
