China Expands Global Initiatives with Latin America and Caribbean
President Xi Jinping stated China's willingness to collaborate with Latin American and Caribbean countries on several global initiatives during the opening ceremony of the fourth ministerial meeting of the China-CELAC (the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States) Forum in Beijing. Key areas of focus include the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, and the Belt and Road cooperation.
Xi emphasized the importance of safeguarding the multilateral trading system and maintaining stable global industrial and supply chains. He advocated for an open and cooperative international environment to foster mutual growth and development.
In addition to development-focused initiatives, Xi highlighted the need for enhanced cooperation in areas such as disaster management, cybersecurity, counter-terrorism, anti-corruption, drug control, and combating transnational organized crime. The goal is to maintain regional security and stability through joint efforts.
Furthermore, Xi Jinping called for strengthening the alignment of development strategies between China and the Latin American and Caribbean countries. He specifically mentioned advancing high-quality Belt and Road cooperation as a means to achieve shared prosperity and sustainable development.
